The Arab International Forum to Support the Resistance concluded in Beirut on January 17, 2010, followed by a proclamation of its final appeal in Maroun al-Ras in southern Lebanon, directed via loudspeakers toward the Palestinian people in occupied Palestine 48. In its closing statement, the forum called for resistance to occupation and aggression, stressing the right of people under international law and the UN Charter and the norms enshrined in people's struggles against occupation and aggression around the world throughout history. |

Hamburger. Wij overhandigden hem de vele reacties en steunbetuigingen naar aanleiding van onze handtekeningenactie (zie brief). |

Representatives of democratic mass organizations,
Unions, defenders of workers’ rights We call you!!!! Whilst our trade union, Trade Union of Municipality Workers, was carrying out activities to make workers members of the union, 3 workers who are members of our union got fired on 18th August, 2009 in Esenyurt, which is a district in İstanbul. As a result of this, we launched a campaign/resistance for those workers. Until now16 workers have been fired because of being a member of the union. The municipality does insist on not to recognize the union. From that day on, all workers gather in front of the Esenyurt Municipality Hall during working hours from 08:00 to 18:00 and struggle to get back their jobs and their rights. |

Counter-GFMD conference held in Athens, Greece
1-4 November 2009More than 100 delegates and guests representing 45 organizations of migrants, refugees and advocates from 20 countries, participated in the successful holding of the second International Assembly of Migrants and Refugees (IAMR) held November 1-4, in Athens, Greece. The assembly, held at the Athens University of Economics and Business, and the Polytechnic University of Athens, was held as a counter-assembly to the government-led Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD) that also convened in Athens last November 5. |
