The International League of Peoples’ Struggle stands with the people of Palestine in their long struggle for their land and freedom. We especially salute the heroic people of Gaza in their battle against the genocidal assault by the racist US-armed and financed Zionist war machine. We demand an end to the vicious siege on Gaza now being enforced not only by Israel but by the United States, West Europe and the servile Egyptian regime.

Background

With the election of Lee Myung Bak as President and the Grand National Party (GNP) into the majority of seats in the House of Representatives, the Republic of Korea (RoK) is intensifying attacks on the Korean people under the policies of neo-liberalism and militarization in the Korean Peninsula. It is accelerating the privatization of public education and health care services, deregulating labour further, and ramming through free trade relations.

Whereas, the US imperialist-led occupation of Iraq which has been supported by both the Republican and Democratic party representatives in the USA, is approaching its sixth anniversary this March, 2009;

WHEREAS...

We are facing the most serious financial and economic crisis of the capitalist system since the 1930s. U.S. authorities admit that it could go on for as long as a decade. The broad masses of the people, especially the workers and the peasants, are facing reduced employment and income, deterioration of living conditions and intensification of exploitation and oppression. This has sparked peoples' resistance from Greece to France, to the US, Haiti, China, Brazil and beyond in the imperialist countries, in the so-called emerging markets and former revisionist-ruled countries and in all the countries of the global South (third world countries).
