Friday, May 1, 2009 – Sisters of Gabriela Awaken (SiGAw) will demand workers' rights by marching in the BAYAN USA contingent of the Southern California Immigration Coalition, as they kick off a campaign calling to “Legalize America Now.” SiGAw is the newest member organization of GABRIELA-USA (GAB-USA), an overseas chapter of GABRIELA Philippines, the largest women’s alliance in the Philippines that struggles for the rights and welfare of Filipinas and for true national democracy in the Philippines. SiGAw organizes around issues particular to Filipina women – issues that are also shared by other women of color in the US and around the world. |
